Hungary vs Kazakhstan: Magyars to extend unbeaten run

Hungary host Kazakhstan at Nagyerdei Stadium in an international friendly on Tuesday evening (7pm local/6pm BST). The two nations failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup and so this will be the last fixture of the season ahead of the Nations League, which begins in September.

While Kazakhstan finished behind Belgium, Wales and North Macedonia in qualifying Group J, Hungary suffered injury-time heartbreak last November when their World Cup hopes were dashed by Troy Parrott, who scored a dramatic winner to send the Republic of Ireland through the play-offs. Team News

Liverpool duo Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez are expected to feature, having started in Hungary's friendly win over Finland on Friday. Manager Marco Rossi has also called up a number of uncapped players as he looks ahead and plans for the future.

Kazakhstan, meanwhile, are without Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov as the Dynamo Moscow winger has been sidelined through injury.

Hungary earned a 2-1 victory against Finland on Friday, but managed to score just one goal in their previous two matches at home.

The Magyars narrowly defeated Slovenia with a single strike in March before drawing a blank against Greece days later.

Kazakhstan, meanwhile, are resolute opposition and will look to make it difficult for the Hungarians on Tuesday.

The Hawks have kept two clean sheets in their last three friendlies, while their last six games have each featured two goals or fewer.

While March victories for Kazakhstan came against Namibia and Comoros, inferior sides to Hungary, Talgat Baysufinov's side held Belgium to a 1-1 draw in World Cup qualifying and will take confidence from that result.

Hungary are favourites heading into the friendly against Kazakhstan and can extend their unbeaten run to four games.

The Magyars have responded well since November's crushing defeat by the Republic of Ireland, beating Slovenia and Finland and drawing with Greece.

Rossi's men have lost just once in the last eight matches and will look to end the current campaign with victory before next season's Nations League.

Kazakhstan have won two of their last three matches, but taking on Hungary away from home presents a huge challenge.

The Hawks have failed to score in four of their last 10 matches, while the Magyars have conceded just one goal in 270 minutes.
