Serrano is a huge favourite at 1/40 while Hanson joins the great underdogs of the sport with a reflective 16/1 price. The draw is up for 18/1.
Serrano vs Hanson Fight Preview
This two-belt scrap will be contested over 10 three-minute rounds. Serrano has led the charge in campaigning for females to be allowed to box under the traditional men’s timings. She became the first world champion to contest and win a 12 three-minute rounds bout when she overcame Danila Ramos back in 2023.
This fight is two rounds short of that trip, but three-minute rounds are still a win for a passionate campaigner like Serrano. Her stance cost her the WBC title, which was stripped from her ahead of the Ramos fight due to the distance breaching their archaic rules. So the fact Serrano is still competing in world title fights longer than traditional women’s boxing is a a huge political win.
With her campaign for the betterment of the sport sitting alongside a truly frightening number of world title victories, one wonders what worlds remain for Serrano to conquer. She came out on the wrong end of a whitewash in the Katie Taylor trilogy, but fans and pundits acknowledge she should have been awarded at least one of the those decisions. Those fights will sit alongside Gatti-Ward, Morales-Barrera and Fury-Wilder as one of boxing’s most brutal and scintillating modern series.
Serrano’s only non-Taylor defeat came 14 years ago against Frida Wallberg. She is boxing’s only seven-division world champion. Only Manny Pacquiao has won titles in more divisions in the entire history of the sport, with eight. Serrano is also the first Puerto Rican fighter to win world titles in four or more weight classes and the only boxer from that great nation to become a four-belt undisputed champion.
No matter what happens, Serrano’s name will be enshrined in the boxing folklore. Her Hall of Fame induction is a formality. So why fight on? The hunger clearly persisted throughout the Taylor wars. But with the book closed on that rivalry and Serrano now 37 years of age, what keeps ‘The Real Deal’ ticking?
The answer has become clearer recently. Serrano has told multiple outlets she plans to bow out by the end of the year. Her primary motivation is to reach 50 pro victories before vacating a stage she has electrified for close to two decades.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Serrano is on 48 victories presently. A victory here would leave us with potentially just one more look at one of the best boxers of our era. Of course, boxing retirements are about as reliable as British MPs or Lauryn Hill’s timekeeping. But a win over Hanson is vital for Serrano’s plan to come to fruition.
Cheyenne ‘Pepper’ Hanson possesses one of boxing’s best nicknames, but there is more to the Augsburg knockout puncher than that. Hanson boasts 13 knockouts from her 17 wins and has stopped three of her last four opponents.
The 28-year-old is twice-beaten, but has won nine in a row since her most recent defeat in 2021. Hanson’s CV lacks a big name scalp to truly hang it on. Serrano’s longevity does not always make for the fairest comparisons, but nobody on the German’s record would rank in the top 20 fighters the champion has beaten.
Mountains are there to be climbed, and Serrano is the biggest one you can climb in this division. Let’s hope Hanson has the apparatus to at least make a decent fist of the ascent.

Serrano vs Hanson Prediction
Hanson will go on the attack. She has to. Her punch power, while only tested at a low level, is her best chance here.
A symptom of Serrano innovating three-minute rounds for women’s boxing is the advantage it gives ‘The Real Deal’. Hanson has never boxed a three-minute stanza in her pro career. Serrano is entering her 23rd round of that length when the bell rings on Saturday.
I think Serrano’s stamina, experience and savvy should render this a one-sided event. I’m backing the Puerto Rican wonder on points @ 11/4.
