Michael Van Gerwen to win vs Gian Van Veen @ 11/10

It had to happen at some point but it feels like Van Veen may finally be hitting a slight dip in form - the young Dutchman has averaged below 95 in each of his last four matches and came out empty handed in the last two Premier League nights. He sits in the middle of a tight tussle for the top four just now, sitting in fourth, on the same points as Price and Humphries. This feels like a pretty crucial match as Van Gerwen sits just one point behind them in sixth.

MVG got off to a great start, winning five of his six matches across the opening two Premier League nights. He unfortunately had to withdraw through illness on Night 3 and since then, he’s has no points return from three nights. With a player of his calibre though, you have to feel a big week is only around the corner and I think this could be the night he stops the rot.

He has had the better of his young opponent more times than not, leading 7-4 in the head-to-heads. This match could well pan out how the rest of the league is going to pan out for these two but I have to go with the more experienced Dutchman at a very generous 11/10 against the misfiring GVV.

Under 5.5 total 180s in Josh Rock vs Gerwyn Price @ 20/21

You could forgive Rock for starting to wonder when this nightmare run will end - the Northern Irishman has had no points return from the opening six nights in what is beginning to turn into a debut Premier League campaign to forget for Josh. It becomes a mental challenge when you can’t buy a win in the Premier League, we’ve seen some decent stuff from Rocky in other tournaments and he is clearly struggling in this specifically, with the pressure mounting on him weekly.

This week may be a slight opportunity against Price who sounded a little worn out after his defeat to Wessel Nijman in the final of the European Darts Trophy on Sunday night - in his post-match interview and social media post, he hinted that he wouldn’t mind taking a break as he feels like he’s suffering from feeling burnt out with the relentless playing and travelling, with The Iceman opting not to skip many events. There’s a chance he may be feeling a bit fatigued and a trip to Dublin for another night of darts is perhaps not what the Welshman is after right now.

Given the lack of form from Rock in the Premier League and Price a bit disheartened by another sore defeat in the latter end of a tournament, this could end up being a bit of a scrap. Under 5.5 180s at just shy of even money looks the best value here in a match that may not live up to it’s usual billing.
