The Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, has reached the quarter-final stage, and the majority of the leading lights are still in the hunt for Major silverware. The top half of the draws are in the spotlight first as men’s top seed Carlos Alcaraz does battle with home favourite Alex de Minaur, while women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka takes on talented teenager Iva Jovic.

Last season's runner-up, Alexander Zverev, mixes it with rising star Learner Tien, while American ace Coco Gauff meets fellow seed Elina Svitolina. Below are my Tennis Betting Tips for Tuesday, January 26.

Tennis Betting Tips - Tuesday, January 26

  • Alexander Zverev to win 3-1 vs Learner Tien @ 11/4
  • Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-0 vs Alex De Minaur @ 6/5
  • Coco Gauff to win 2-1 vs Elina Svitolina @ 11/4

Alexander Zverev to win 3-1 vs Learner Tien @ 11/4

Having made last season’s final, Zverev will be determined to go one better as he chases a first Grand Slam crown, and he should be too tactically aware for up-and-coming talent Tien.

That said, Tien will have hopes of causing an upset on the back of his clinical 6-4, 6-0, 6-3 win over three-time runner-up Daniil Medvedev in round four, and he can give the German a test.

Zverev cruised past Francisco Cerundolo 3-0 last time out, but he needed four sets to post wins over Gabriel Diallo, Alexandre Muller and Cameron Norrie, and Tien looks destined for a bright future.

The American 20-year-old did down Zverev on a hard court in Acapulco in February last year, and these quick conditions clearly play to his strengths, so he can claim a set.

Alexander Zverev vs Learner Tien - Set Betting

Zverev, A 3-1

Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-0 vs Alex De Minaur @ 6/5

Alcaraz is bidding to break new ground by going beyond the quarter-finals of the Australian Open for the first time, and the six-time Grand Slam champion can turn on the style against home hope De Minaur.

The Spanish world number one has fallen at this hurdle in the last two seasons, but that should only ensure maximum focus, and he has breezed into the last eight without dropping a set.

A 7-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory over hard-court specialist Tommy Paul, who had only two break-point opportunities, should serve as a warning of what is to come for De Minaur, and the Australian has lost all six of his Grand Slam quarter-final appearances.

Alcaraz has won each of the five previous meetings with De Minaur, recording three straight-set victories, and the Aussie was readily swatted aside 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 by Jannik Sinner in last season’s quarter-final.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alex De Minaur - Set Betting

Alcaraz, C 3-0

Coco Gauff to win 2-1 vs Elina Svitolina @ 11/4

Two-time Grand Slam champion Gauff tends to come alive in the showpiece events, but she may need to display all of her battling qualities to fend off Svitolina.

Gauff showed her character and resolve in deciding-set wins over Hailey Baptiste and Karolina Muchova in the last two rounds, and this could be another gruelling battle against Svitolina, who has toppled two talented seeds in Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva.

The American has triumphed in her last two meetings with Svitolina in three sets, while the Ukrainian world number 12 was defeated 2-1 by eventual champion Madison Keys in last year’s quarter-final in Melbourne.

Cori Gauff vs Elina Svitolina - Set Betting

Gauff, C 2-1
