Gemma Hayter over 1.5 180s vs Josh Rock @ 4/6
Gemma makes her Ally Pally debut and it’s thoroughly deserved for me, I definitely think she’s one of the more exciting female players who is beginning to step up to the plate. She’s played a fair amount on the Modus Super Series which is brilliant experience for her and stands her in good stead ahead of this. She’s competed well with the men on Modus, I’m sure there’ll be some nerves tonight but that experience will give her plenty belief she can hold her own against one of the best young players in the game in Josh Rock.
Rocky has yet to deliver his best on the Ally Pally stage but he’s made decent inroads in 2025 in terms of his performances and results in the major tournaments. Josh made the Semi Finals of the World Matchplay in July and was only stopped by a tremendous Luke Littler performance. He’ll be looking for similar progress at Ally Pally this time round, he made the last 16 on debut but has failed to go beyond the last 32 the past two years, which doesn’t match his incredible talent at all.
I’m not seeing a great deal of value in the match betting so instead I’m focusing on the 180s, where I think there’s a lot of value around Hayter. She’s been priced at 4/6 to hit over 1.5 180s, which seems massively generous in this long a format. Gemma’s numbers have been improving all year-round and she’s been averaging 0.19 180s per leg over the last three months. If she continues at that rate then she’ll only need roughly 10 legs to manage two maximums. She’s averaging 82.38 over the last three months, if she can add a few more points to that I’m sure she’ll take at least a few legs off Rocky and increase the chances of landing the maximums we need.
Beau Greaves most 180s vs Daryl Gurney @ 8/15
This was one of the standout ties of the first round when the draw was made, hopefully it lives up to the billing. Whoever Greaves drew it was going to attract attention, but this looks like a potentially brilliant 50/50 battle against a former World Grand Prix winner. Beau has played at Ally Pally once before where she went down 3-0 to Willie O’Connor in 2022, but there’s no doubting she’s kicked on to another level since then. She’s arguably played the best darts of her career so far this year, which was showcased when she knocked Luke Littler out of the World Youth Championship, she consequently went on to narrowly lose the final against fellow talent Gian Van Veen.
It’s been a mixed bag for Gurney in 2025, without creating any headlines in singles tournaments, he certainly did at the World Cup in what has to go down as one of the highlights of his career - Superchin helped win the World Cup for Northern Ireland alongside team-mate Josh Rock, role Daryl played in that victory can’t be underestimated. I’m sure he would’ve liked that to have kicked him on another gear in his own career but he hasn’t really had any good runs tournament wise himself since then.
I’d make Greaves slight favourite due to the guarantee that she’ll have the Ally Pally crowd on her side, but at 4/6 I don’t really see any value in backing her to win. What looks a lot more appealing is her to take the win in the most 180s market at 8/15 - Beau ‘n’ Arrow has only got better on the maximums through the year, averaging 0.38 180s per leg over the last three months compared to only 0.19 for Gurney, so is hitting double the amount. Gurney will rely on his doubles to get the win and Greaves should boss the scoring phase.
