NBA Betting Tips: Knicks or Spurs – who will be NBA Cup champs?

A day to forget yesterday as none of my selections landed, but tonight marks the conclusion of the third edition of the NBA Cup, as the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs attempt to write their names into the history books.
That is the only match taking place this evening, so I've picked out a couple of selections for my NBA betting tips for Tuesday, December 16.

New York Knicks -3.5 (vs San Antonio Spurs) @ 21/20
The 2025 NBA Cup reaches its crescendo tonight as the Knicks take on the Spurs at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Both enter this decider with identical 18-7 records, with NY dismantling the Orlando Magic in their semi-final, while the Spurs pulled off the upset of the season, edging out the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 to snap their 16-game winning streak.
The Knicks' offensive engine runs through point guard Jalen Brunson, who dropped 40 in the win over Orlando and has taken this legendary franchise from pretenders to a genuine championship contender. Victor Wembanyama is the Spurs' star man - although they have great depth - and the 7'4 phenom will take some stopping here and doesn't need a lot of time to flip a game on its head.
NY enter Tuesday's final as favourites, and I'm backing them to get the job done. Although 'Wemby' will be a match-up nightmare for the Knicks, Brunson's elite footwork inside and ability to hit contested jumpers will be demoralising for the Spurs.
Brunson has also shown that he can get his teammates going if defences focus too much on him - in the win over Orlando, the 29-year-old assisted 18 of their points.
If the Knicks can minimalise Wembanyama's impact, they can certainly reign supreme in Vegas.

Over 231.5 points @ 10/11
Both teams possess players who know how to get to the basket. I've already touched on Brunson and Wembanyama but Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns scored 29 against Orlando on Saturday, while De'Aaron Fox is averaging roughly 23 points-per-game for San Antonio.
When the two teams locked horns in March last season, they combined for 225 points, so I'm going to take the over on the total points market. I think this should be a high-scoring game, especially with the scoring ability that will be on display.
This total was beaten in the semi-final between the Knicks and Magic, while the Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers also went over this mark in their quarter-final clash.
