Over 5.5 180's in Richie Edhouse vs Jonny Tata @ 4/11

I’d say Tata is definitely one of the Oceanic players making the trip over to London with more belief that he can make an impact than some of the others. He comes here in some good form too - he finished 3rd in the overall table in the recent ANZ Premier League, winning eight of his thirteen matches and making the play-offs where he lost out to Simon Whitlock. Before that, he won all of the final three events on the DPNZ Pro Tour.

It’s never really happened for Edhouse at the Worlds, the 2024 European Championship winner has failed to go beyond the Last 64 in five previous appearances at Ally Pally. It’s hard to see how he’ll make light work of Tata, he’s struggling for consistency and hasn’t managed to kick on this year after that maiden major title in 2024. Tata has only made one World Championship appearance before and that was actually at the Lakeside for the WDF edition. He went on an impressive run to the quarter-finals there, he may take some inspiration from that alone.

For me, the likelihood is that Edhouse won’t get this done in straight sets and we’re likely to see four or five sets. Straight away this turned my attention to the 180s and looking to go overs on them - this pair can hit them at a decent rate, they’re hitting 0.46 180s per leg combined, meaning we should only need to see the match go 13/14 legs to see 6+ 180s hit. That’s highly likely in what should be a tightly contested match, making over 5.5 180s an easy selection to back at 4/11.

Dom Taylor under 2.5 180's vs Oskar Lukasiak @ 4/6

This could be a match for the purists in what is likely to be a slow and steady pace set by both players. There’s definitely plenty talent where Dom is concerned, we’ve seen just how good he can be on the Pro Tour, with plenty huge averages recorded and two runs to the semis earlier in the year. He’s yet to really produce on the big stage, granted he doesn’t have a load of experience on them. He’s went out in the 2nd round on the Euro Tour in all four appearances, hasn’t went beyond the 3rd round of UK Open in five appearances and lost in opening round of Players Championship Finals last month. So although we don’t have a great deal to go off, there’s still that question mark looming as to whether he can produce the goods on the big stage.

I do think Taylor gets the job done against Lukasiak who is averaging nine points less than his younger opponent over the course of the year. He’s had a decent bit of experience on the big stage through representing Sweden in the World Cup, alongside Jeffrey De Graaf. More times than not though he has looked really nervous and the throw isn’t exactly pretty to watch.

With two guys making their World debuts, I think the sensible thing to do is leave the match winner/handicap markets alone. Taylor is a good scorer but has never been prolific with the 180s - The Tower is averaging just 0.12 180s across the last three months, meaning he’d need around 18/19 legs just to hit two. I can’t see there being more legs than that as I do think if he keep the nerves to a minimum, Dom will just have too much for the Swede. Under 2.5 180s for Taylor looks the most appealing bet in this one.
