NBA Betting Tips: Lack of Luka magic is a problem for Lakers
Just the one pick managed to land in yesterday's NBA betting tips as the New York Knicks beat the Charlotte Hornets but the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat lost, much to my surprise!
Thursday night brings us a five-game slate, so let's take a look who I'm backing this evening.

Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 (vs Golden State Warriors) @ 1/1
The Golden State Warriors are expected to be without superstar Steph Curry for the trip to Philadelphia, and on top of that, they've lost five of their last seven matches, which makes me lean towards a Philly win.
Curry missed the defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder last time out, but the Warriors did themselves proud in that game, keeping the score close before the Thunder pulled away in the final few minutes.
Joel Embiid is expected to be out for the Sixers but Tyrese Maxey has done a phenomenal job of leading this 76ers squad and he's averaging the third-highest points-per-game in the league (32.5).
Maxey can take down the Warriors on his own, in my opinion, so side with the hosts to win and cover the spread here.

Boston Celtics -7.5 (vs Washington Wizards) @ 8/11
The Celtics come into Thursday's game in decent form having won seven of their last 10 fixtures - their most recent victory was an impressive triumph over the Knicks.
On paper, this game should be a straightforward win for Boston. Washington have won just three games all season and are rock-bottom of the Eastern Conference. I think the question is how many points do Boston win by.
I'm going for -7.5 on the spread as the Wizards have the worst points-per-game differential in the NBA (-14.4), suggesting that this should be a blowout win for the C's.

Toronto Raptors -2.5 (vs Los Angeles Lakers) @ 1/1
The Lakers start a three-game road trip with a difficult test against the Toronto Raptors, who have been one of the surprise packages of the season.
The Raptors are second in the East with a record of 15-7, and LA will be without Luka Doncic - who's currently leading the league in scoring - due to personal reasons, which is a huge blow.
The Lakers suffered a a poor loss at home to Phoenix last time out, giving them a wake-up call before they head out on the road, but with no Doncic, I struggle to see them getting the better of Toronto.
Toronto are playing their best basketball in years, have the league's sixth-best defence and are 8-2 at home - the Raptors to cover is my pick.
