3 units win Gerwyn Price @ 6/1

It’s been a mixed year of highs and lows so far for Gezzy - The Iceman has enjoyed two Pro Tour titles on the floor, as well as reaching Finals Night in the Premier League, a tournament he’s often struggled in. He also made the final of the World Cup a couple weeks ago for Wales, alongside teammate Jonny Clayton. He’s had some indifferent performances in-between but has ultimately showed enough promise to suggest he could strike gold at some point soon.

In a recent interview in America ahead of this event, Gerwyn seemed very content with where his game is at and expressed how he is enjoying his darts at the moment, which is something that can’t always be said about the Welshman. He had a couple early exits on the Pro Tour last week, but did say he was suffering with illness that he’s since recovered from.

He appears to come here in good spirits and can take further confidence from his pretty impressive World Series record - he enjoyed title wins in Denmark and Australia last year, on top of making the final here in Madison Square Gardens, where he was just denied in a deciding leg against Rob Cross, he impressed that weekend with standout performances against Luke Littler and Peter Wright. He’s kept up that consistency into this year, making the semi finals or better in all three World Series events to date this year.

Price looks to be in a nice enough section of the draw, facing the American, Adam Sevada first up, which I’d expect him to come through. He’d then likely face Van Gerwen in the quarters, whom is returning from a break of over a month, having had some personal issues off the oche and having suffered six defeats on the trot, he may be a bit rusty in terms of match practice.

I fancy Gezzy to put himself into the final four this weekend and give himself a good chance of lifting another World Series title and a first for him over in America.

2 units win Stephen Bunting @ 9/1

Given his stellar record in World Series events recently, Stephen could become a bit of an auto-pick for me in these type of tournaments if he sticks around the 7/1-12/1 range.

The Bullet has had some serious success on his travels this year, making three finals from three World Series events thus far, winning two of them. If I had one criticism of Bunting over his PDC career it would be that he hasn’t picked up enough titles given the talent he possesses, but he seems to be starting to put that right - he’s now picked up four titles in total in 2025 (2 World Series, 1 European Tour, 1 PC event).

It was the recent Players Championship victory in Leicester though that impressed me the most - Stephen had a tournament average of around 102, recording averages of 105, 101, 102, 106, 102, 97 and 105. An absolutely sublime mixture of heavy scoring, clutch finishing and plenty of composure. Averages of 100+ in eight of his last ten matches suggest he’s coming into this in peak form and looks ready to add to his trophy cabinet once again.

I also like the section of the draw Bunting is in - he faces Jason Brandon in the opening round which I fancy him to win with ease, before a potential quarter-final against Damon Heta, who hasn’t really had too many eye-catching runs this year in comparison to the last couple years previous to this one.

Despite struggling at times in the Premier League earlier this year, Bunting doesn’t appear to have any sort of hangover from this as many players have suffered from in the past. He looks to have taken it as a learning curve and used it as experience to better himself in events like this one. 9/1 is more than a fair price for Bunting to make it a hat-trick of World Series titles this year.
