Wakefield look to follow up last week's impressive win over Warrington with a home clash against crisis-hit Salford Red Devils. (Kick-off 3pm)

Trinity have won more games than they have lost since earning promotion back to the Betfred Super League and will be well-fancied to land another victory against the most troubled team in the top flight. George Riley shares his Wakefield Trinity vs Salford Red Devils predictions below.

Team News

Wakefield boss Daryl makes just one change to his initial 21-man squad after back-to-back wins over Castleford at Magic Weekend followed by that thumping victory against Warrington.

That change sees young prop forward Ellis Lingard named in a squad for the first time this year at the expense of Jake Trueman who has been struggling with a back issue.

Trinity are still without Oliver Russell, Renouf Atoni, Matty Storton, Ky Rodwell and Caleb Hamlin-Uele.

As for Salford, boss Paul Rowley names only an 18-man squad this week.

Star centre Nene Macdonald made a try-scoring return to the team in defeat at Castleford last weekend and continues in the squad this week but the good news ends there.

Star man Jayden Nikorima is injured, so is winger Ethan Ryan while George Hill was recalled from his loan by Castleford despite not being named in the Tigers squad.

Experienced forward Sam Stone is fit to return and youngster Charlie Glover is also included.

Wakefield Trinity vs Salford Red Devils Odds

Wakefield are the 1/150 favourites to prevail here. It's 16/1 for Salford to come away with the victory, while the draw is marked at 28/1.

Wakefield - 24 @ 4/9

Wakefield have the chance to break into the top six this weekend and I am confident they will take it against Super League's bottom club.

Salford will be stronger with the return of Sam Stone and the reintroduction of Nene Macdonald but the latter is way off the pace in terms of match fitness and Stone has also been out for some time.

Wakefield look very well-organised under Daryl Powell and I can't see them putting 40 points on Warrington and then losing to a ravaged Red Devils side the following weekend.

Previous results are an irrelevance here I think, with this the first meeting between the teams since Wakefield's last Super League appearance two years ago - it was one win apiece in 2023 and a third game was won 14-13 by Salford.

I fancy Wakefield by a few scores here.

Oliver Pratt anytime try @ 6/4

It is a take your pick job when Salford come to town in terms of likely try scorers against them, and I am sure most of this Wakefield team will fancy getting over the line against a team with a -363 points difference after just 11 games.

A look at last week's try scorers shows a list of names who will all have a very good shot at scoring again this weekend, namely three quarters Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone, Oliver Pratt and Lachlan Walmsley.

The latter was the only one of those not to register against a strangely off-colour Wire team, but Pratt is the player I fancy most. A really good finisher with a good rugby league brain, Pratt has managed to blank on the couple of occasions I have backed him this season.

So let's hope for a change in fortunes in what appears to be an inevitable home win here.
