Yesterday's Tennis betting tips produced a mixed bag of results; Jannik Sinner secured the -4.5 game handicap against Alejandro Tabilo but Brandon Nakashima was unable to win a set to land the 13/5 in defeat to Andrey Rublev, while Sebastian Korda upset compatriot Tommy Fritz to win 2-1 in Montreal.

My Sunday Tennis betting tips feature three of the above names, but I'm predicting pain for one of them at the National Bank Open.

Tennis Betting Tips - Sunday, August 11

  • Alexander Zverev (GER) -3.5 Game Handicap vs Sebastian Korda (USA) @ 1/1
  • Set 2 Total Games - Over 10.5 in Alexei Popyrin (AUS) vs Hubert Hurkacz (POL) @ 11/10
  • Set Betting - Andrey Rublev (Wrl) to beat Matteo Arnaldi (ITA) 2-0 @ 1/1

Tennis Odds

Alexander Zverev (GER) -3.5 Game Handicap vs Sebastian Korda (USA) @ 1/1

Alexander Zverev endured a difficult second set in his last-16 tie with Holger Rune on Saturday, being forced to a tiebreak but ultimately coming through to win the match 2-0 (6-3, 7-6). After beating Jordan Thompson 6-1, 6-1 in the previous round, the German is yet to lose a set in Montreal.

His next opponent, Sebastian Korda, hasn't lost one either but has enjoyed considerable luck so far. The American played just three games against Vasek Pospisil (2-1) in the first round before the Canadian was forced to retire through injury, and after beating Tommy Fritz 2-0, the 24-year-old received a bye in the last 16 following the withdrawal of Casper Ruud.

Korda now faces Zverev for the first time in their careers and should be full of energy and belief after also winning the Washington Open earlier in the week.

However, the ease with which Zverev dispatched Thompson before grinding his way to a straight-set success over Rune, should leave the second seed feeling confident himself.

Zverev finished four games clear of the Dane on Saturday and I'm backing him to repeat that feat against Korda.

Alexander zverev -3. 5 game handicap vs sebastian korda @ 1-1

Set 2 Total Games - Over 10.5 in Alexei Popyrin (AUS) vs Hubert Hurkacz (POL) @ 11/10

Alexei Popyrin won his first two contests of the National Bank Open - against Tomas Machac (6-3, 6-4) and Ben Shelton (6-4, 7-6) - in straight sets before being taken to three by Grigor Dimitrov on Saturday, but the Australian defied the pre-match odds to beat the Bulgarian 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.

The 25-year-old's victory set up a quarter-final tie with fourth seed Hubert Hurkacz, who was forced to three sets by both Thanasi Kokkinakis (4-6, 6-3, 7-6) and Arthur Rinderknech (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in his only two matches of the competition so far.

Hurkacz suffered what appeared to be a serious knee injury at Wimbledon, being forced to withdraw from his match against Arthur Fils and indeed the competition as a result, so it's no surprise he has been a little rusty on his return to action.

That's why the over 10.5 total games in set two piques my interest ahead of this match-up in Montreal.

Popyrin is likely to prove even more troublesome than Kokkinakis and Rinderknech, as evidenced by his triumph in the second-set tiebreaker against Dimitrov yesterday, and the Australian will push the Pole all the way today.

Hurkacz has won all three previous head-to-heads between the pair stretching back to October 2021 but has been forced to play at least 12 games in the second set twice, most recently at the Cincinnati Open last August when emerging victorious in a tiebreaker on the hard court.

I can see something similar unfolding on Sunday.

Set Betting - Andrey Rublev (Wrl) to beat Matteo Arnaldi (ITA) 2-0 @ 1/1

Andrey Rublev knocked world number one Jannik Sinner out of the Canadian Open on Sunday to set up a semi-final tie with Italian Matteo Arnaldi.

Rublev beat Sinner in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 6-2) in a morale-boosting victory that should stand him in great stead ahead of his match-up with Arnaldi, who he has faced twice in his career.

The Russian won the first meeting in straight sets at the Vienna Open (7-5, 6-3) before being easily beaten at the French Open earlier this year (6-7, 2-6, 4-6).

Arnaldi will use that match as motivation, believing he can take Rublev the distance in Montreal, but I think the semi-final will be a step too far for the Italian, who is not in the same form he was when facing the Russian at Roland-Garros.
