The Women’s Olympic competition starts tomorrow and here, our golf tipster Jamie Worsley has had a look at players who can make a fast start at Le Golf National in the First Round Leader betting market.

He's picked out three names to consider backing. Check out who and why along with his Women's Olympics Paris 2024 Golf FRL Tips with us right here at Betfred Insights...

Women's Olympics Golf FRL Tips

  • Hannah Green – 1/4 5 places – 1.75 pts ew @ 22/1
  • Xiyu Lin – 1/4 5 places – 1.5 pt ew @ 30/1
  • Shannon Tan – 1/4 5 places – 0.5 pts ew @ 100/1

Again, with the bunched-up start times, combined with an even, mild breeze across the opening day, there shouldn’t be any draw bias and I’ve been able to pick freely across tomorrow’s field.

Hannah Green – 1/4 5 places – 1.75 pts ew @ 22/1

Start time: 09:44

I’m going to start with Hannah Green. The Aussie has had a stellar season so far, recording two victories and coming into this Olympics event after enjoying her highest first-round finish on her last outing, she looked primed for a swift start in Paris.

Green won the HSBC Women’s World Championship on her second start of the year, then doubled up four starts later by winning the JM Eagle LA Championship. She’s continued to play well since, making the cut in each of her last seven starts, which includes a 2nd-place finish in the Mizuho Americas Open and top-25s in the US Women’s Open and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

A 14th-place finish in the CPKC Women’s Open on her last start is a handy piece of form and it was a result helped by her strongest start of the season, as she fired a 3-under 69 to sit 2nd after the opening round.

Green is hitting the ball well – especially her irons, ranking 18th in approach - and looking typically strong on the greens, ranking 16th. As a lover of poa surfaces, she should enjoy the greens at Le Golf National and can get her quest to improve on an impressive Olympic debut effort of 5th in 2021, off to the best possible start with a low one tomorrow.

Xiyu Lin – 1/4 5 places – 1.5 pt ew @ 30/1

Start time: 10:11

Xiyu Lin is one of the best first-round players on tour this season – ranking 3rd in round one scoring. With the ball-striking looking in a good place and her form again consistently strong this year, she can get off to another quick start tomorrow.

Lin has missed just two cuts in 15 starts this season and recorded four top-10 finishes. The latest of these came just two starts ago when she finished 5th in the Dana Open; an event in which she opened with a 6-under 65 to sit 2nd after the opening round.

That was her fifth first-round top-10 of the year and her ninth top-25. Indeed, she has started with an under-par round in 10 of her 15 starts on the tour this season.

Lin has played in each of the last two Olympics, finishing 9th last time out in Tokyo. As one of the best tee-to-green players on tour, ranking 18th, she is a threat whenever she tees it up and when combined with those positive starts she has been making this season, the Chinese star has every chance of claiming the lead after 18 holes tomorrow.

Shannon Tan – 1/4 5 places – 0.5 pts ew @ 100/1

Start time: 09:33

The Ladies European Tour’s Shannon Tan made an excellent start to her pro career at the beginning of 2024, winning the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in just her third pro event. Whilst her results have been a touch up-and-down since, there have been further positive performances and as an elite-level ball-striker, she has the weaponry to go well at Le Golf National.

Tan has played 15 times since winning in Kenya, recording seven top-25 finishes, including top-10s when 3rd in the Ladies Italian Open and 7th in the Dutch Ladies Open when we last saw her.

She has been the best driver on tour in 2024 and completes her impressive all-round ball-striking profile with rankings of 4th in greens-in-regulation and 7th in approach.

This enables her to be one of the most prolific birdie makers on tour, ranking 7th and whilst winning against this field might just be beyond the talented Singaporean at this stage, she certainly has the firepower to hit the front tomorrow.
