World Matchplay Darts 2024 Betting Tips: Dimi features in Boosted Double

The 2024 Betfred World Matchplay is into the quarter-final stages and our tipster Sean Rafferty is in white-hot form. Tonight, we have two cracking looking Last eight matches between Ross Smith and James Wade, as well as Luke Humphries and Dimitri van den Bergh.

James Wade highest checkout over 120.5 @ 8/11

We already have James Wade to win this quarter at 14/1 in my tournament outright preview, so have heavy interest in the outcome of this one.

Ross Smith put on a masterclass in 180 hitting in his win over Gerwyn Price, hitting 13 max's in 20 legs. He will however need to get his doubles tidied up again, having only hit 30% in that match. Wade as I suspected, concentrated on his own game against an injured Aspinall and eventually ground him down with persistent pressure and ran out an 11-8 winner, having been very tight for much of the match.

'The Machine's scoring has been solid enough so far but he will likely need to up it further to win against Smudger who is scoring pretty relentlessly. Instead of looking at the win market, which as I said we’re already invested in, I’ll focus on Wade to chuck in a big checkout.

8/11 for him to hit a checkout over 120.5 seems fairly generous, given the amount of looks he’ll give himself at checkouts ranging from 121-170 over this long format. He nailed a 128 checkout in his win over Aspinall and he's also hit at least one 121+ checkout in five of his last eight matches, bare in mind that 75% of these matches were almost a third of the length of what this match will be, so the recent stats show this is great value to happen.

Dimitri Van den Bergh +5.5 legs handicap @ 4/6

Dimi continues to show his love for this tournament, as he successfully reaches the QF stage for the fourth time in five appearances. 'The Dreammaker' faces the hardest task of them all here in trying to conquer the World Champ and World Number one. However, he did manage it in Minehead in March at the UK Open final.We saw many of the mind game antics from Dimitri in that match and we could see similar here again, whether that’s for his benefit or to throw off Humphries somewhat is up for debate.

Again, we already have plenty interest in this match, as we have Dimitri to win this quarter at 9/1. I’m going to keep it sensible and opt for Dimitri handicap at +5.5. As I said previously, he won their recent meeting which was huge and I’m not sure Humphries enjoys playing against the more methodical pace of Dimi.

He’s rarely managed to enjoy any heavy victories over the Belgian - in their last eight meetings, Cool Hand has only won by more than three legs on one occasion. Dimitri has also won two of the last three meetings. He averaged 99 and 97 in his opening matches and he’ll need to find similar to win the 11+ legs we require here, but I feel he’s winning enough legs in 15 or less darts to get the required amount for us here at 4/6.
