World Snooker Championship Monday Tips

  • 1pt Treble - Gary Wilson -2.5 Handicap vs Stuart Bingham, Mark Williams -2.5 Handicap vs Si Jiahui, Pang Junxu Highest Break vs Robert Milkins @ 8/1 (boosted from 13/2)

Gary Wilson -2.5 Handicap vs Stuart Bingham

Stuart Bingham has looked past his best over the last couple of years and doesn’t come into this event in good form. He won two close matches against Carrington and Heathcote to qualify this week but, before that, had lost his first round matches at his last three ranking events, winning just five frames.

Over the last two years he’s made just one quarter-final appearance in a ranking event.

In the same period, Gary Wilson has won three trophies; the Scottish Open twice and the Welsh Open this season.

Wilson is looking better than he has ever done, scoring well and consistently competing against and beating very good players.

He has been to the semi-finals here in the past and I think he can get off to a good start this week against an out-of-form Bingham.

Mark Williams -2.5 Handicap vs Si Jiahui

At the age of 49, it would be understandable for Mark Williams to be past his best but, despite a few dips in form, he always bounces back and currently sits sixth in the world rankings, having won two events this season.

In his very last event, the Tour Championship, he looked better than ever with dominant wins over the three best players in the world - Mark Allen, Judd Trump and Ronnie O’Sullivan - to lift the trophy.

Since his 2015 defeat to Matthew Stevens, Williams has won by at least three clear frames in all of his opening round matches here.

Si Jiahui has a tendency to go on long streaks of winning frames, but he’s just as capable of going on awful runs and if he’s not at his best here, Williams could run away with this one.

He’s played eight matches against top-16 players this season and lost seven of them, six of them by three clear frames.

Pang Junxu Highest Break vs Robert Milkins

Robert Milkins is by far the weakest scorer out of the top-16 players this week - he simply doesn’t make many centuries.

In the last three seasons, he’s made just 15 centuries in ranking events; Pang Junxu has made 34 centuries in the same period, despite playing fewer frames.

This season, Milkins has averaged a century every 32 frames whilst Pang has averaged one every 18.

Milkins has played 13 matches in his career at the Crucible and won this market just twice.

Pang has only played one previous match at the Crucible, but that was against Ronnie O’Sullivan last season, and he won this market with a break of 133.
