George Riley Betfred Super League Tips

Catalans Dragons look to renew the pressure on Betfred Super League’s front-runners with a home clash against Leigh Leopards on Saturday evening (17:30).

Below are my Catalans Dragons vs Leigh Leopards predictions - including a 6/4 anytime tryscorer shout.

Catalans Dragons vs Leigh Leopards Tips

  • Catalans -14 @ 17/10
  • Anytime Tryscorer - Arthur Mourgue @ 6/4

Catalans Dragons vs Leigh Leopards Odds

The hosts are clear favourites at 4/11 to earn both points, while the visitors are 9/4 to return from France with a much-needed victory. Meanwhile, it's 18/1 about the draw.

Team News

The Dragons name one of their strongest squads for a while for the visit of Adrian Lam’s side. Three key men return to the squad, with McNamara once again able to call upon hooker Michael McIlorum, Arthur Romano and Alrix Da Costa.

Leigh boss Lam confirmed at his weekly press conference that key forwards Robbie Mulhern and John Asiata are not quite ready to return. Lam says next week’s trip to Leeds or the game against Wigan the following week are more likely comeback dates.

But there is better news on Gareth O’Brien and Matt Davies who are both back in contention this week.

Catalans -14 @ 17/10

Leigh clearly fancy this fixture, with the playing squad and staff having been in the south of France all week to acclimatise for the occasion. There will also be a huge travelling support at the Stade Gilbert Brutus with 1500 Leigh fans expected inside the intimidating arena. Such has been the Dragons’ concern about being out-numbered by visiting fans that they have declined to increase the Leopards’ ticket allocation further.

This occasion might well end up feeling like a Cup tie given the sunshine, the raucous atmosphere and the long stay in France for Leigh. But I still see the Catalans snapping out of their recent losing streak with a win.

The Dragons have slipped off the pace after back-to-back defeats but it is worth considering those losses were away at St Helens, and at home to a fired up Warrington, who scrapped to a 16-8 win as predicted in this column.

I think this weekend is where we see the real Dragons back, and I am backing the home side to win by three scores on the handicap.

Catalans -14 vs Leigh Leopards at 17-10

Anytime Tryscorer - Arthur Mourgue @ 6/4

The Catalans go-to attacking weapon has been our go-to tryscorer bet this season and has justified out faith with returns on multiple occasions.

Striker wingers Tom Johnstone and Tom Davies and the short-odds bets, but I always like the look of Arthur Mourgue in games like this, with his dazzling footwork liable to catch out tired legs in the sapping heat.

Leigh have Umyla Hanley at 5/4 to score anytime and John Charney at 1/1 – both fantastic bets, but I am going to stick with the value of Mourgue to be the game-breaker once again.

Arthur Mourgue anytime scorer at 6-4 in Catalans Dragons vs Leigh Leopards
