Lucky 15

One week to go until the Royal meeting swings into action, so we've plenty of racing to digest between now and then. First up it's Tuesday's Salisbury card, a track I visited many moons ago and I enjoyed the experience immensely.

An eight-race spectacular kicks in at 14:00, so here's my Lucky 15 tips for June 11, just a handful of miles south of historic Stonehenge, in Wiltshire. We had a stellar week, and nailed some cracking ITV advices on Saturday, too. More of the same please.

Lucky 15 Tips Tuesday

Salisbury

  • 14:00 - Blewburton @ 4/1
  • 16:07 - Amsterdam @ 4/1
  • 16:37 - Pagan Sun @ 4/1
  • 17:07 - Alhattan @ 9/2

14:00 - Blewburton @ 4/1

A 6f two-year-old novice, mainly contested here by colts/geldings.

My selection Blewburton doesn't have the best of draws in eight, but it's not insurmountable. He's been gelded already and on his one run so far was successful at Leicester over 5f, running on convincingly at the business end.

You really have to get home at Leicester and to compound matters it was soft on the day, so on career evidence thus far, plus breeding, the six should be no issue whatsoever. That was 45 days ago, and normal improvement for that debut spin should certainly be forthcoming.

Charles Bishop rides for Eve Johnson Houghton, who's had four winners in the last fortnight - admittedly from 30 runners.

16:07 - Amsterdam @ 4/1

This three-year-old Dutch Art gelding has had just the one run so far, finishing sixth in a winter Kempton novice as a two-year-old.

Ed Walker trains, another to have troubled the judge recently, and Kieran Shoemark rides. I guess we're taking a fair bit for granted here - that he's trained on, and will be straight enough to do himself justice on Tuesday.

Amsterdam is very well housed in the two box, and this looks a good opportunity for this well-bred type.

16:37 - Pagan Sun @ 4/1

A three-year-old by Arc winner Waldgeist, who famously denied the great Enable in Paris.

Another to have only run the once, last autumn, in a Dundalk maiden. Trained then by Paddy Twomey, Pagan Sun joined Sean Woods (Newmarket) around a week ago and it's interesting that he's immediately sent out to compete.

The excellent Danny Muscott takes the mount, and he's sure to have had a cracking education in Ireland. Might be just the time to catch him on Tuesday.

17:07 - Alhattan @ 9/2

There's something reassuring about seeing the mighty Shadwell colours, with Jim Crowley up top.

That's exactly what we've got here with Alhattan, a Lope De Vega three-year-old colt who has been competitive the last twice on his two forays into handicap company off this unchanged opening mark of 78.

He seemed to find this trip of 1m 2f taxing at HQ last time but that was a better race for the grade in my view (Class 4), and Salisbury is a gentler test. Four career starts to date, he's admirably consistent, and his sire just can't stop having winners. My nap of the day, for what it's worth.

If you're playing, have fun, take care, and enjoy.

Horse Racing Odds

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £640 for your total £7.50 stake.

Fred, 'The Bonus King,' invented the 'Lucky' series of bets and their bonuses. My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide - take a look by clicking here.
