Lucky 15

A glance at today's horse races confirms an attractive menu both in the UK, and over in Ireland. My choice for Friday June 28 is the seven-race card at Doncaster, which starts at 13:35.

Our Lucky 15 tips then are as follows; and good luck if you're playing!

Lucky 15 Tips Friday

Doncaster

  • 14:10 - Consolidation @ 15/8
  • 15:55 - Beylerbeyi @ 2/1
  • 16:30 - Night Horn @ 3/1
  • 17:05 - Sisterandbrother @ 7/2

Horse Racing Odds

14:10 - Consolidation @ 15/8

The now-familiar colours of Wathnan Racing, making such an impact upon the game in a relatively short space of time.

Ralph Beckett trains this two-year-old Too Darn Hot colt, and James Doyle (21% strike-rate in the last fortnight) takes the mount. Just one run so far, a Sandown maiden over this 7f trip.

He met plenty of trouble and was only beaten just over 4l, running on well when his winning chance had gone. Options against are several, including an unraced Gosden Kingman colt, but The Doyler can make that Sandown experience tell with Consolidation.

15:55 - Beylerbeyi @ 2/1

An ordinary mile handicap, and a selection in at the very least career-best order.

Beylerbeyi is a four-year-old Invincible Spirit gelding, and I love the first-time booking of Oisin Murphy. Ian Williams trains. Just over three weeks ago he won rather cosily at Wolves (7f) on the all-weather, and is up 5lb for that.

Back to a mile now, and prior to Wolverhampton he ran extremely well on turf at Nottingham, going down by just over a length. He seems to go on any ground and has an ace up his sleeve in getting Murphy up top.

16:30 - Night Horn @ 3/1

Murphy once again, this time for Andrew Balding. Legendary colours, too - those of George Strawbridge.

Night Horn is a three-year-old Golden Horn colt looking for win number one after five runs to date. The best of them was no doubt a fortnight ago at Sandown, stepped up to this 1m 6f-and-change trip.

He races off the same mark, 67, and having tried to make all in Esher if attempting similar here he'll find the finish nothing like as daunting as that famous hill. Nice little heat.

17:05 - Sisterandbrother @ 7/2

Ah - memories of an old Drifters hit from the time a youthful G Southgate was at play school probably dreaming of becoming a centre-half, while everyone else was worshipping Johan Cruyff. Spoil us on Sunday, Gareth - please!

Sisterandbrother has claimer Joe Leavy reducing his welter burden of 10st 1lb by five - the amount he's penalised for winning last time at Nottingham. He's also up a notch to a Class 5, but is at least in extremely fine fettle.

Kevin Frost trains the six-year-old Sixties Icon gelding whose mark has risen from 56 to 67 in just over a month. He's in such good order that I'm hoping there's one more big one in him before the handicapper starts smirking.

As for continuing to defy the grader, the Drifters might just have said - 'don't it make you feel good?' 10 furlongs is the trip and he's gone very well here at Town Moor in the past, too.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £212 for your total £7.50 stake.
