Perth Racecourse

There are seven scheduled meetings across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday - including Jumps action at Perth, Ludlow and Bellewstown plus Flat fare from Catterick, Uttoxeter, Taunton and Gowran Park.

We have three Wednesday racing tips, featuring a likeable chaser under title-chasing jockey Sean Bowen, for your consideration.

Wednesday Racing Tips

  • 15:17 Catterick - Moyola @ 6/1
  • 15:25 Perth - Instit @ 11/4
  • 15:55 Perth - Gunsight Ridge @ 15/8

15:17 Catterick - Moyola @ 6/1

Finally, MOYOLA has an improving profile as he returns from a small break back on turf in the Class 5 5f three-year-old Handicap at Catterick.

He ran well after a break following a gelding operation when fourth over this course and distance on good to soft ground in October and is now rated 8lb higher after two all-weather successes over 6f and 5f at Newcastle.

The son of Adaay should appreciate this switch to 5f on good to soft ground and is capable of a bold bid on this follow up attempt, representing Lucinda Russell under Oisin Orr.

15:25 Perth - Instit @ 11/4

INSTIT is representing Willie Mullins in the Listed 3m Mares' Chase at Perth, the £32,500 feature contest on the card and worth over £18,000 to the winner.

The six-year-old daughter of the French sire Saint Des Saints is out of a half-sister to Line Marine, who won the Grade 1 3m5f Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris in May last year.

That stout stamina on the distaff side points to Instit being able to unlock untapped potential as she steps up to 3m for the first time.

She produced an encouraging effort when second over an extended 2m5f at right-handed Fairyhouse in March which suggests she may now to be ready to surpass the personal best RPR of 150 she achieved when winning by nearly 10 lengths at Fairyhouse in a Listed mares' novice contest in April last year.

15:55 Perth - Gunsight Ridge @ 15/8

GUNSIGHT RIDGE makes significant appeal in the five-runner Class 3 2m Handicap Chase at Perth on Wednesday afternoon.

The selection is representing Olly Murphy, who is 5-24 (21%) in the past 14 days, and Sean Bowen is continuing in the saddle.

Murphy is 19-92 (21%) with his runners at Perth, and Bowen is 24-122 (20%) when riding over fences for the trainer.

The nine-year-old is wearing first-time cheekpieces and Murphy's runners are 6-27 (22%) when first applying that particular aid.

He is also dropping in class and trip from an exploitable rating, the son of Midnight Legend featuring off a mark of 134. He ran to a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 143 over this trip at Sandown in February and has since finished third in a better race over an intermediate trip at Newbury.

The likely good to soft ground on this right-handed course should suit and he will prove difficult to beat if reproducing an 143 RPR on this occasion.
