Hamilton Park Racecourse

Flat racing holds sway across Britain on Thursday with five meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening.

Among Thursday's racing tips from Today's Horse Races is one for trainer Ruth Carr who has a love affair with Hamilton Park and has won the race in question twice before.

Thursday's Racing Tips

  • 18:45 Hamilton - Hard Solution @ 10/1
  • 19:15 Hamilton - Never Dark @ 6/1
  • 19:45 Hamilton - Wafei @ 1/3

18:45 Hamilton - Hard Solution @ 10/1

Twice a winner of this 5f selling handicap (2019 & 2023), Ruth Carr's HARD SOLUTION will probably have been targeted at this race for some time and the eight-year-old could be poised to strike off a dangerous mark.

With form figures that read 13761612661357 at Hamilton Park, he's a winner four times at this venue and he is back down to his last winning handicap mark of 46.

Overall, Hard Solution has been in poor form this year but he did get a win at Southwell in March. He handles fast ground and the drop back to 5f should also be in his favour. Everything looks set for a big effort in a winnable contest.

This is an Extra Place Race, with Betfred paying 3 places instead of 2 at 1/5 the odds for all each-way bets.

19:15 Hamilton - Never Dark @ 6/1

Moving on to the 5f handicap for runners rated 0-90 and a chance is taken on Iain Jardine's NEVER DARK to build on his eye-catching Chester run last time.

Three times a winner over the minimum last year, the last of which was at Haydock in September off a mark of 82, the son of No Nay Never is now 7lb lower in the weights and will have Mohammed Lyes Tabti aboard who will take a further 5lb off.

Never Dark ran two poor races upon his return to action this year but really caught the attention at Chester this month. Sent off a 40/1 chance on the day, he blasted out and tried to make all, and was only reeled in late on, finishing fourth. He could take beating on these terms.

19:45 Hamilton - Wafei @ 1/3

Big spenders Wathnan Racing had a terrific Royal Ascot and they look set to continue their fine run of form in the 1m1f maiden as the William Haggas runner WAFEI is a warm order with James Doyle aboard.

The son of American Pharoah was narrowly denied by Charlie Appleby's Legend Of Time on debut over a mile at Haydock last September and that winner has gone on to win a Grade 2 at Aqueduct.

Wafei then finished fifth in a Newmarket mile maiden, behind Bellum Justum (winner) who went on to run in the Derby, and Inisherin (second) who bolted up in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

The selection disappointed on his return when sent off a hot favourite over 1m2f at Windsor in April, but he has been gelded and is a standout choice on the form book.
