Rather unsurprisingly, Saturday is going to be another busy day, with no fewer than eight meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland. There’s plenty going on and Haydock provides the best action of the day.

In amongst the evening action is Chepstow, where they have an eight-race Flat fixture (17:25-21:00) and ground conditions are likely to be on the quicker side. We've picked out a trio to follow at the Welsh track and these include a lightly raced handicapper that looks ready to get off the mark.

Chepstow Tips - Saturday, June 8

  • 18:30 - Via Blanca @ 13/2
  • 19:00 - Youarenotforgiven @ 11/1
  • 20:30 - Kalama Sunrise @ 9/2

18:30 - Via Blanca @ 13/2

The Memory Of Gwilym Llewellyn Brain Tumour Research Handicap for three-year-olds over the minimum trip has only attracted a field of five, but it’s shaping up to be a very competitive affair.

Look out for David Loughnane’s VIA BLANCA at the bottom of the weights as a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.

Via Blanca is yet to translate her admirably consistent record on the all-weather on to the turf, but she looks very dangerous off this mark if she’s capable of doing so.

There were some positive signs of that happening when third at Salisbury last time out (5f, good). Sticking to her task well, she could perhaps benefit from a more conservative ride.

Her last success came off a 3lb lower mark at Southwell in March and the handicapper’s decision to drop her rating by a pound for that latest effort could pay dividends.

19:00 - Youarenotforgiven @ 11/1

YOUARENOTFORGIVEN gets the nod from us in the feature race of the day as Tony Carroll’s six-year-old looks ready for a return to form. The gelding has been a little disappointing in two starts so far this season and both of those have come over a mile.

His last victory came over this trip at Newbury in July (7f, good) and he’s pretty well handicapped on that form. That success came in a 0-85 and he finds himself in a marginally lower grade and on a 1lb lower mark here.

Hat Toss and Signcastle City are perhaps the biggest dangers in this 0-80 but neither appear to be as well handicapped as Tony Carroll’s runner here.

20:30 - Kalama Sunrise @ 9/2

Jack Channon’s KALAMA SUNRISE is still lightly raced and could still be unexposed in handicap company. It’s certainly too early to give up on her and she has shown enough to suggest winning races isn’t beyond her.

The daughter of Coulsty hated the ground at Leicester last time out (7f, heavy) and it’s very easy to put a line through that effort. She’s due to go down 2lb as a result of that run, so it’s interesting that connections are running her before the new mark comes into effect.

It was a much better effort when fourth off this mark at Brighton on her seasonal reappearance (1m, good). Channon’s four-year-old was too keen for her own good that day and she may well have finished stronger if she’d settled better.

This horse certainly deserves another chance and there’s a good chance that really quick ground will be a massive help to her.
