  • Waterford (21/10) vs Shelbourne (5/4) - Draw (2/1) (19:45, LOITV)

The Segunda Division is nearing it's conclusion as we are into the play-off semi-final second legs. Espanyol have the home advantage on Thursday, having scraped a 1-0 lead at Sporting Gijon on Sunday.

It was a match that was full of late drama as forward Javi Puado found the breakthrough in the 88th minute before his teammate Sergi Gomez, who had not even made it on to the pitch, was shown a straight red card.

This will certainly add some spice to the second leg at Cornella-El Prat on Thursday evening. Espanyol (10/11) are looking to return to La Liga at the first attempt, while Sporting Gijon (13/5) have been absent from the top-flight for the past seven seasons. This should be a cracking match, especially as the visitors are still in it thanks to the one-goal deficit.

Over in Ireland, League of Ireland Premier Division table-toppers Shelbourne (5/4) head to Waterford (21/10) looking to win their second game on the spin after edging past strugglers Dundalk last Friday. Shelbourne are on 40 points at the moment but they are being pursued by Derry City, who are two points behind them.

There is no doubting that Derry have the stronger attacking force as they have scored eight more goals than the league leaders, but Shelbourne have been ruthless this season. Derry (10/11) are also on the road on Thursday as they head to Bohemians (11/4) looking for a third consecutive win.

The top two have opened up quite a gap between themselves and the rest of the division with Shamrock Rovers and Waterford the closest to them with 31 points apiece. However, they do each boast games in hand on the top two, which they will be hoping to capitalise on when the time comes.

Rovers (9/10) head to St Patrick's Athletic (13/5) looking to post back-to-back victories, as they look to get into a rhythm and start chasing down both Derry and Shelbourne.
