Germany have already secured progression to the knockout stages after claiming all six points from their opening two games, and could well be joined by Switzerland when the sides meet on Sunday night (20:00, live on BBC Two).

The tournament hosts beat Hungary on Wednesday to seal their passage into the next round, while the Swiss drew with Scotland meaning the two sides will battle it out for top spot in Group A. Read on for my Switzerland vs Germany prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Switzerland vs Germany Betting Tips

  • Germany to win and both teams to score @ 23/20
  • Jamal Musiala to score anytime @ 11/5
  • Correct Score - Germany to win 3-1 @ 12/1

Germany are looking to make it three wins from three, and consolidate top spot in Group A when they lock horns with Switzerland in Frankfurt.

The tournament hosts have looked impressive in their respective victories over Scotland and Hungary, however Julian Nagelsmann will know not to underestimate Sunday's opponents as they also come into this game unbeaten after defeating Hungary and sharing the spoils with Scotland.

With Germany already through and Switzerland virtually assured of their place in the last-16, this game is all about which of them finishes top and gets the potentially easier path through the knockout stages.

Team News

Fabian Schar broke his nose early on but played on through the pain in Wednesday’s draw with Scotland, so he could be a doubt on Sunday.

Breel Embolo has appeared off the bench in both games so far for Switzerland, but could be handed a place in the starting XI for the final group game.

Nagelsmann has the luxury of potentially rotating his side, but he'll want his team to finish top of the group, so many of the big hitters could feature.

Jamal Musiala has scored in both of Germany's wins so far and looks set to retain his place in midfield alongside Toni Kroos, while Niclas Fullkrug could get the nod after being used as a substitute in the opening two games.

Switzerland vs Germany Odds

Unsurprisingly, Germany are 7/10 favourites - implying that they have a 58.8% chance of claiming all three points. Switzerland are 18/5, while draw is 3/1.

Both teams to score is also 8/11, while you can back the Germans to win to nil at 15/8, and the same bet for Switzerland is priced up at 8/1.

Germany to win and both teams to score @ 23/20

As mentioned above, Nagelsmann may be tempted to take the foot off the gas and rest some players ahead of the knockout stages. However, I think he'll want his side to top the group and secure the easier (on paper at least) route to the final.

Die Mannschaft will want to avoid a potential momentum-killing defeat that could also then send them to the bottom half of the draw and a set up a potential clash with Spain or Italy in Berlin.

It's hard to see past another win for the Euro 2024 hosts, who are riding the crest of a wave at the moment after two fine performances in their opening two matches.

I think Switzerland can get on the scoresheet, however, particularly if Xherdan Shaqiri produces another finish like he did against the Scots.

Germany to win and btts at 23-20

Jamal Musiala to score anytime @ 11/5

The Bayern Munich man put in a dazzling display in the opening match against Scotland and then followed it up with another excellent performance against Hungary, scoring in both games.

The 21-year-old is one of the stars of the tournament so far and while I don't believe he'll play the full 90 minutes here, I'm expecting him to make an impact once again while he's on the pitch.

Musiala anytime at 11-5

Correct Score - Germany to win 3-1 @ 12/1

If I had to predict a scoreline for this game, I'd opt for a 3-1 Germany win.

Die Mannschaft have scored exactly two goals in seven of their last 11 matches, while Switzerland have kept only three clean sheets in their last 10 internationals.

Nati have shown they are capable of scoring in a variety of ways against Hungary and Scotland, so may be able to get one against a German team that could not keep the Scots out, but Nagelsmann's side should have too much quality.
