Germany can seal qualification to the knockout stages with a game to spare, when they take on Hungary at the MHP Arena (KO, 17:00), live on BBC One on Wednesday.

Julian Nagelsmann's side kicked-off the tournament in style, thrashing Scotland 5-1 on matchday one, while Hungary were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Switzerland. Read on for my Germany vs Hungary prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Germany vs Hungary Betting Tips

  • Germany to win and both teams to score @ 15/8

  • Correct Score - Germany to win 3-1 @ 10/1

Team News

The Germans emerged from the victory over Scotland unscathed injury-wise, so Nagelsmann could opt for an unchanged XI here.

Robert Andrich and Jonathan Tah were both booked last time out, so could miss the final group clash against Switzerland if they're cautioned again on Wednesday, although it may be preferable for them to miss that match if Germany have already qualified for the knockout stages.

As for Hungary, Loic Nego and Callum Styles were both absent in the loss against Switzerland, and both men are expected to be sit out once again on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai will start alongside Roland Sallai once again, with Barnabas Varga providing the focal point in attack.

Germany vs Hungary Odds

The Germans are favourites for the game at 1/4, giving them a theoretical chance of 80% of claiming the three points. Hungary can be backed at 11/1, while the draw is priced up at 5/1.

Both teams to score - yes is available at 1/1, and if you think there'll be goals in Stuttgart, over 2.5 goals is 8/15.

Germany to win and both teams to score @ 15/8

Germany opened Euro 2024 in emphatic style with a 5-1 demolition of Scotland in Munich and as mentioned in the introduction, they can seal their place in the round of 16 against Hungary on Wednesday.

There were five different scorers for Germany on the opening day as Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can all got on the scoresheet and in my opinion, there's no reason why another goal-fest doesn't follow them here.

The fact that two of the goals were scored by substitutes shows the strength-in-depth in this German squad, and Hungary's defence was tested against Switzerland and will be likewise here.

Despite Germany's dominance in the opening game against Scotland, they still failed to keep a clean sheet, meaning that both teams have scored in eight of Germany’s last 10 home matches.

In addition, Hungary have scored in 22 of their last 24 internationals, including their last 12, so backing both teams to get on the scoresheet, along with a Germany win, seems to be the play here.

Germany to win and btts at 15-8

Jamal Musiala 2+ shots on target @ 11/4

The Bayern Munich man put in a dazzling display on Friday night and he'll be eager to stamp his authority on this game early doors.

He found plenty of joy in the midfield against Scotland, and his intelligence will allow him to thrive against a Hungary side who will do their best to keep tabs on him.

He managed to get on the scoresheet on Friday, and while I don't doubt that he can't do once again on Wednesday, I'm backing him to have 2+ shots on target, as I expect the Germans to create plenty of chances.

Jamal Musiala to have 2+ shots on target at 11-4

Correct Score - Germany to win 3-1 @ 10/1

If I was to predict a scoreline for this match, I'm opting for a 3-1 Germany win.

This German squad are clearly full of goals, and Hungary certainly know how to put the ball in the back of the net, too. However, Germany's quality will prevail and ultimately see them secure the three points, and a place in the next round.
