Defending Copa America champions Argentina have enjoyed a fine start to the 2024 competition. They have won two from two in Group A and are yet to concede a single goal. They wrap up their group stage campaign with a clash against Peru at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Saturday night (Sunday 01:00) live on Premier Sports 1.

It is from this fixture that I have selected my football bet of the day, using Betfred's #PickYourPunt feature. The selection is at an enticing 7/2 price which you can discover below.

Football Bet of the Day - Saturday, June 30

  • #PickYourPunt - Argentina to win, BTTS - No & Lautaro Martinez to score anytime @ 7/2

Football Odds

La Albiceleste headed into this summer as both the reigning Copa America and World Cup champions, so there was so much pressure placed upon them as they had never accomplished such a feat before.

Some wondered whether or not they had peaked but so far they have been silencing their doubters and look strong enough to defend their crown. Two games, two wins and two clean sheets speaks for itself. The confidence Lionel Scaloni and his players will be getting from this will only aid them for the rest of the tournament.

Argentina vs Peru Odds

Peru will not be looking forward to facing them when they need to win to give themselves a chance of progressing to the knockout stage. Argentina may be through but I cannot see them letting up here. They will want to head to the next round with as much momentum as they can gather, and their confidence will be sky-high if they finish the group with maximum points and no goals conceded.

That is why the first two legs of this bet builder is for them to win and both teams to score - no. La Albiceleste have a lot of quality within their ranks, and even if Scaloni was to rotate his XI, the fringe players have enough about them to round off the group stage in style.

As much as I think Argentina have the defensive solidity to keep another clean sheet, with Premier League duo Lisandro Martinez and Cristian Romero making quite a partnership, there is another reason why I think they will register another shutout.

Peru have failed to score at this tournament so far. Their solitary point came in a goalless stalemate and they have been struggling in the final third. I can't see thing improving for them against one of the strongest teams in the tournament, who are on the hunt for back-to-back championships.

The final leg of the bet is for striker Lautaro Martinez to score anytime. He has found the back of the net in both of Argentina's Copa America clashes so far, so I expect the trend to continue in Florida.

Interestingly, both his goals so far have arrived in the 88th minute so could we expect the same a third time around? I do think he is worth backing to score again and wrap up the group stage in emphatic fashion, and collectively this selection at 7/2 is an excellent price.
