Ukraine have all the motivation in the world to perform at Euro 2024, for their countrymen and women currently at war, and they also possess a strong squad that has the potential to ruffle a few feathers in Germany.

They qualified from England and Italy’s group to make it here, but had to go through the play-offs to book their ticket to the finals. Serhiy Rebrov has been in charge since last summer, and saw them to a 2-1 success over Iceland in the play-off final.

Euro 2024 Predictions - Ukraine

  • To win Euro 2024 @ 100/1
  • Ukraine to win Group E @ 4/1
  • To reach the quarter-finals @ 3/1
  • Top team goalscorer: Artem Dobvyk @ 5/4

This will be Ukraine’s fourth-consecutive European Championships, which is some achievement in itself, as they have qualified for every Euros since they were joint-hosts in 2012. They were unlucky not to overhaul Italy in the regular qualification group this time around, as both nations finished tied on 14 points, but they got the job done through the play-offs.

Their squad is one that is talented, with players emerging throughout the season. Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has had a spectacular year at Real Madrid, helping them win the Champions League and La Liga, even if he was dropped for the showpiece final at Wembley. Meanwhile, Mykhailo Mudryk has now found his feet at Chelsea and will provide searing pace from out wide, Oleksandr Zinchenko will dictate the tempo in midfield and in Artem Dovbyk, they have a goalscorer in fine form for his club.

To win Euro 2024 @ 100/1

Okay, this might be a stretch, but it gives you some perspective of where the bookies are at with Ukraine right now. They are one of the outsiders to win the whole thing, and up against some of the major nations, they will probably come up short, but that doesn’t mean we cannot find some value elsewhere. Personally, I think Ukraine will be the dark horse of Euro 2024, and backing them to go far could see some profitable returns.

Ukraine to win Group E @ 4/1

Ukraine have been handed a relatively easy group in my eyes. The big guns are Belgium, but there are question marks over them given they are coming to the end of a cycle, and still trying to work out how to get the best out of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Will the Manchester City midfielder even be able to stay fit for the entirety of the tournament?

I don’t think it's out of the question that Ukraine can win this group. They face Romania and Slovakia before taken on the Belgians and I think they will pick up six points from six across those opening two matches. They may go into that final group match knowing a draw is enough to see them top the group, so odds of 4/1 in my eyes are incredibly generous.

To reach the quarter-finals @ 3/1

Even if they don’t win the group, I think Ukraine have an excellent chance of making it into the quarter-finals of Euro 2024. If they and the Netherlands finish second in their groups, they will face each other, and I think the Dutch will struggle against this vibrant Ukrainian outfit. Ronald Koeman’s side lacks a cutting edge, whereas Ukraine have Mudryk and Dobvyk, and may be able to go deep into this competition.

Top team goalscorer: Artem Dobvyk @ 5/4

Here he is. Dobvyk is the striker Ukraine have been waiting for, a physical beast with an eye for goal. The 26-year-old is so important to Ukraine, and has everything that opposition defenders will hate to come up against this summer. He’s quick and strong, while his finishing has gone to the next level since he moved to Girona last summer.

Remarkably, in his first season in La Liga, he won the Golden Boot, with 24 goals in 36 matches, one more than Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth managed. I’m expecting him to carry this excellent form into this tournament, and he should be able to bag some goals in the group stage and beyond. He's 50/1 to be top scorer in the whole competition.

Artem Dobvyk
