Euro 2024 Team Betting Predictions: Belgium

Belgium's 'golden generation' may have gone out with a whimper at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but this new-look Red Devils squad - under the tutelage of Domenico Tedesco - could be a dark horse to go all the way in Germany.

Below you can find my Euro 2024 Belgium prediction, as well as assessing the squad and the latest top scorer odds.

The group-stage exit in Qatar spelt the end of Roberto Martinez's time in charge of Belgium, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Toby Alderweireld calling time on international football, too.

New manager Domenico Tedesco has gone about overhauling the Red Devils' squad with young talent, and is unbeaten since stepping into the dugout.

He can still rely upon the experience of the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne but has placed his faith in players such as Lois Openda, Jeremy Doku and Johan Bakayoko to lead the team into a new era.

The Belgians qualified comfortably from their group to book their place in Germany, coming out on top ahead of Austria and Sweden. Undefeated in eight games, they were free-scoring with 22 goals and conceded just four.

It feels like Belgium have been everybody's favourite dark horse in the past few major tournaments, but they've failed to live up to expectations.

There's only a couple of players hanging around from the 'golden generation' and it feels like this tournament is last chance saloon for some of those stars to taste success on the international stage.

At the time of writing, the Belgians are 16/1 to be crowned champions at Euro 2024, which is the same price as the Netherlands, and they're behind the other big-hitters in France, England, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy - probably as you'd expect.

The draw has been kind to Tedesco - on paper at least - as they line up in Group E with Slovakia, Romania, and Ukraine. There's a reason they're heavy favourites to qualify from their group.

As I've alluded to above, Belgium shouldn't have any issues emerging from Group E, and you'd expect them to top the group comfortably. The real test for this Belgium squad will be how they fare if/when they take on one of the big boys in the knockout rounds.

Top team goalscorer - Romelu Lukaku @ 11/10

Unsurprisingly, Romelu Lukaku tops the team goalscorer market for Belgium.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Roma, bagging 21 goals in 47 games across all competitions. His international record isn't too shabby either, netting on 83 occasions in 114 appearances for his country, as well as scoring 14 times in Belgium's eight qualifying matches.

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is next in the betting at 5/1, and whilst he's not renowned for his goalscoring ability, he certainly knows how to find the back of the net. Arsenal's Leandro Trossard is also 5/1 to finish as Belgium's top goalscorer, after a very respectable season with the Gunners scoring 17 goals in all competitions.

Perhaps an outside shout would be backing Lois Openda at 7/1, who had a brilliant season for RB Leipzig. His international record leaves much to be desired with just two strikes in 17 appearances so far, but he arrives at the tournament having scored 24 goals in 34 games in the Bundesliga.
